Privacy Policy

Overview

Oxytocin is a Chrome browser extension that helps you compose replies to Instagram direct messages using AI. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights as a user. The short version: we operate no servers, collect no analytics, and store nothing outside your own device.

Data We Collect

The following is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to Chemical Farmers:

• Instagram direct message content
• Contact names and usernames
• Conversation summaries and communication style notes generated by AI
• AI-generated reply drafts

None of this data is transmitted to our servers. It is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB).

Data Sent to Third-Party AI Providers

To generate reply suggestions, Oxytocin transmits message content and conversation context to one or more of the following AI providers:

• Anthropic (Claude)
• Google (Gemini)

Your API keys for these services are stored locally on your device and are never shared with Chemical Farmers. Each provider's own privacy policy governs how they handle data sent to their APIs.

Data We Do NOT Collect

Chemical Farmers does not:

• Operate servers or backend infrastructure connected to Oxytocin
• Collect analytics or usage statistics
• Collect your Instagram credentials or passwords
• Share or sell data to third parties beyond the AI providers you configure

Data Retention & Deletion

All data stored by Oxytocin lives on your device and is fully under your control. You can delete it at any time via the Settings → "Clear All Data" option inside the extension, or by uninstalling the extension entirely.

Permissions

Oxytocin requests the following browser permissions:

• activeTab — to read the current Instagram DM thread
• storage — to save conversation context locally on your device
• sidePanel — to display the reply interface without leaving Instagram
• Host access to instagram.com — required to interact with DM content

Children's Privacy

Oxytocin is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used this extension in violation of this policy, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
